An M6 lug has a 6.4mm hole, M8 is 8.4mm, M10 is 10.5mm and M12 is 13mm. Getting a lug that will not pass over a stud is the commonest complaint in this whole category, so we publish both.

Crimping

Use a hexagonal die matched to the lug, not an indent crimp, and not a bolt cutter style tool. Hex applies force evenly from all sides and is standardised, so a DIN 22-series die works with a DIN 46235 lug from any manufacturer. Indent crimping is genuinely good on fine-stranded conductors but it is not standardised and it locks you to one maker's lugs.

At 70mm² and above, use two crimp positions along the barrel.

Do not drill out a smaller lug to fit a larger stud. It removes palm material, weakens the joint and exposes bare copper. If the lug will not fit the terminal, you want either a different stud size or a reduced palm lug.

Or have us crimp it

Every made-to-measure assembly we build is crimped on the bench with a hydraulic tool and a matched hex die, checked with a micrometer across the flats against the die maker's published figure, and measured end to end on a milliohm meter. You get the numbers on a certificate. Configure an assembly.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0963/0164/6204/files/8-05101_a825a8b4-70a1-400d-9467-faa05a8e930c.jpg?v=1785879777
